A sea of opportunities
The Wadden Sea is now a World Heritage Site. In this book from 2007, the economic benefits of the Wadden Sea are mapped, as well as the possible added value of the designation of this unique nature reserve as a World Heritage Site. The study was commissioned by the Wadden Sea Association and also aimed at giving substance to the sustainable economic development of the Wadden Sea. The organization also wanted to demonstrate that it has a clearly proactive attitude towards the regional economy. The fact that the underlying strategy has been adopted makes it clear that it is quite possible to let nature and the economy work together.
