Forward Mars

LTO Glaskracht (now Greenhouse Horticulture Netherlands) was looking for a concept with which it could deliver added value to its supporters. Tom Bade came up with the concept ‘The circular greenhouse’, with the extension of ‘circular greenhouse horticulture’. That was so obvious that no one had figured it out yet. This concept has been elaborated in a beautiful book called ‘Forward Mars’ because we as BV Netherlands, when we go to Mars, will of course supply the greenhouses for life on the Red Planet. According to Tom, greenhouse horticulture and space travel have everything to do with each other. He therefore proposed that greenhouse horticulture should work together with ESA in Noordwijk. As usual, everyone thought that was a strange idea when he proposed it. And as always, the collaboration is now a fact. The book has also been translated into English and German.
