Water flows and cash flows
The introduction of the Water Framework Directive led to strong discussions about whether all the resulting measures were profitable. But no way had been devised for calculating this. This was suddenly possible with the help of the FEBO model, in which we combined the data from the Chamber of Commerce and Land Registry with the data from the water managers and we simply viewed rivers and water as blue infrastructure. The great advantage of the approach of Triple E has always been that it worked with public data and that the model was (and still is) completely transparent with regard to the method of calculating the results. At the time, the book was presented to the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. The book has also been translated into English with the title ‘Water flows and cash flows’.
