Wild about the economy
Wildlife only makes money when it comes to hunting rights and does a lot of damage to crops. That is the economic picture that we are always served. Also now when it comes to the return of the wolf to the Netherlands. In the – by the way beautifully illustrated – book ‘Wild of the economy’ it is shown that enjoying wildlife often leads to substantial income. Bird watchers are of course known spenders when it comes to equipment, travel and some eating and drinking in and around nature reserves. But it also appears that nature areas where people can see big game are more crowded on average, with all the extra expenditure that entails. The economic benefits of the return of the wolf are also illustrated. Triple E explores economically unknown areas here and walks unknown, but extremely interesting paths. As she always did. Mandatory reading for anyone who wants to counteract the usual sayings.
